Snub This!

I don't know why, I just do not like Albert Pujols. Its a free country, I am entitled to my opinion. I was reading Sportsline.com today and noticed this headline "Pujols feels snubbed, says MVP should come from playoff team". That does not shock me, I would expect a comment like that from Mr. Pujols. Pujols says, "I see it this way: Someone who doesn't take his team to the playoffs doesn't deserve to win the MVP". Cry me a river, Albert. Stop your whining, isn't the World Series win enough?

Now, lets move on to why I love Mr. Derek Jeter so much. A little class goes a long way.

"While I know that voting for these awards is primarily based on differing opinions and statistical debates, it's also part of what makes baseball such a great sport.

"Having said that, I'm flattered and honored to have been considered for the American League Most Valuable Player Award. I want to congratulate Justin Morneau on this well-deserved honor. He is a special player, and I suspect this won't be the last time you will hear his name mentioned when awards are being passed out.

"You've heard me say it a thousand times, but winning the World Series for the New York Yankees continues to be my main focus. There is no individual award that can compare with a championship trophy, and I look forward to working towards that challenge again in 2007."

Note: I love Jeter!

It begins...

Many of you know the day after Thanksgiving, the arm and leg go into my trunk. If you don't know, this is what I am talking about.

I have been doing this for years and years (shout out to Aunt JoAnn for getting me started). I really think her and I may be the only people in the world to have this Christmas tradition.
Its a lot of fun to see people's reactions to it. I have had people take pictures, honk their horns and give me a thumbs up, old women yell at me, people report a murder, and kids laugh and/or cry. I don't really think Christmas would be the same without the arm and leg.

If you see me on the road, give me a honk!

Cracklin' Rosie

I took a few days off of work around Thanksgiving, so I was out of the office almost 7 days. It was a delight. I was not looking forward to coming back into work!! When I got in this AM, I noticed I had a voicemail. So, I plugged in my laptop and started to listen to my messages. To my surprise, it was not a work message! It was Neil Diamond's Cracklin' Rosie song. It was awesome. I have some pretty cool friends.

Note: To my friend that did it --- Job Well Done!

A Little Turkey Fun

Thanksgiving morning, Vicki and I decide to open up a couple bottles of champagne and OJ. I could not touch the raw bird, so Vicki cleaned him out and put him in the pot. My job was to make the herb rub for him and cut up oranges, lemons, and onions to stuff him with. It was team work let me tell ya. Here is a picture of the bird before we cooked him. Once I get the pictures from Vicki and Jane, I will post the 'after' picture.

Before we got to this point, we (when I say 'we', I mean Vicki) had to grab the guts out. I will not mention what she did with the liver, but this was our attempt to resuscitate the heart.

Too many mimosas + video camera =

Note: You need volume

Vicki's acceptance speech for making it into the blog:

I’d like to THANK…my mom & dad, brother, sis-in-law, my 3 nephews, my best friends Amy & Marc, GT for giving me the time off to make this happen, and last but not least god…without him, I would have never made it to where I am today… ;-)

So, I am a little late...

...in watching SAW II. Marc and I finally watched this show, I wish we never did. There is a scene that involves needles. If you know me, you know I am a complete and total needlephobe. I would not be lying if I said, I almost threw up. The "Needle Pit" would probably be my worst nightmare. I plan on having bad dreams about this tonight.

Note: I am done with the "jig-saw".
Note: The ending was a delight.

What do you do on a cold November weekend?

...Go to the bar. This weekend was not what was expected. I planned on doing things around the house and start shopping for Thanksgiving. Instead, we spent most of the weekend at the Bar. Vicki and I were at Bungalows from 12:00 - 7:30. Yeah, I am not going to lie, it was obnoxious! It started out as a lunch to talk about our Thanksgiving menu and it turned into a show. Marc met up with us around 3:00. We left around 7:30 and met Iz (aka Stevie Wonder--j/k) and company for dinner.

Sunday, Vicki and I went to church. What did we do next? We (Marc, Iz, Vic and myself) all went to the bar. We watched a Steeler victory over Cleveland. It's a shame that we got so excited about a win over Cleveland, but we'll take it.

I hope to NOT see a bar for the next 5 -7 days.

I thank you for your support.

What makes me mad...

I don't know what makes me more mad...
1.) Jeter is dating 'someone' (he should be single for the rest of his life)
2.) Soriano was traded to another team other than the Yankees (I want him back)
3.) The Steelers are 4 - 6 (what??)

Emmitt or Emmet

Its the finale of Dancing with the Stars and I have Emmitt on my mind. Although he is not the better of the two, I still want him to win. Anyway, it reminded me that Christmas is right around the corner. When Christmas rolls around, so do the movies. My favorite is Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas. I love it and I can't wait. If anyone can find me an Emmet Otter plush doll and/or the special edition DVD (hint: marc) send it my way!

The soundtrack to this show is wonderful:

River Bottom Nightmare Band

In Our World

When the River Meets the Sea

Brothers

Barbecue

When There Ain't No Hole in the Washtub

Attention: Ray Quote

A funny "Ray" quote about the Wizard of Oz.

Sweet Jesus!

The Steelers had a game without an interception! They actually won a game. You will have to excuse me, I am not accustomed to wins from the Steelers this season. They have moved to 3-6 and have the same record as the Redskins, Cleveland, and Houston (a sure sign the season is over for them). However, a win yesterday was a delight. Steelers, I thank you for a good night sleep!

Pet Peeve

A pet peeve is a minor annoyance that can instill extreme frustration in an individual.

Here are mine, as of late.

1.) Car Accidents
Unless the weather is bad or there was an animal involved-- I have no time for it. If you can't talk on your cell phone, text message, turn the radio channel, look both ways before changing lanes, eat a bowl of cereal, then don't do any of them while driving. Otherwise, you are going to cause an accident that holds up traffic for 1 hour on my way to work.

2.) Small cars and speed bumps
If you are driving a car that requires you to:
1.) Completely stop before going over a speed bump
2.) Pick your car up and put it on the other side of the speed bump
...then you really should buy a bigger car!

Confessional

Between House and Nip/Tuck, I watch Dancing with the Stars. I realize people may laugh at this (including Marc Renkes--he hates it), but for some reason, I love to watch ballroom dancing. Last night was an elimination night. I almost didn't watch it because I didn't want anyone to leave. I thought all three of the remaining guys were great (dancing-wise); Mario Lopez, Emmitt Smith, and Joe Lawrence.

Anyway, I kinda cried a little when Joey left. I shed a couple tears during Dancing with the Stars--Really?

Hey Steelers...

I have a solution! Try using some super glue and stop fumbling the ball.

O Canada !!!

We were in the presence of a few Canadians this weekend. And when I say Canadians, I mean Canadians bearing Caesars. It may be my new favorite morning drink.

I have nothing to compare to, but Helen makes one heck of a Caesar!

Mystery SOLVED

Not gonna lie....I was scared and nervous to meet this mystery gal. But I am scared no longer.

Is that Johnny Depp?

No, its just the Pirates Cove. We spent most of the weekend at this little establishment in Mishawaka, IN. I have to say, it was wonderful to finally meet Joy's friends (an awesome group of people). RW drove up from Indy to hang out with us Friday night/Saturday afternoon. It was so much fun.

Marc and I are normally drink $5.00-6.00 dollar beers. We were able to get 32 oz beers for $3.00, not to mention 30 shots for $20.00. Good friends, beautiful weather, and the air is just right for drinking.

Friday night was some what of a blur. I do remember a couple things....

* Scene: Pirates Cove - Friday night
Song playing: Def Leppard - Foolin'
RW: Is this Gorky Park?

* Helen falling off her bar stool

* Beating Susanne at pool

* Konichiwa B*tch*s

* Buying drinks for the entire bar and only spending $35.00

* Jager Bombs and Pink Shots

* Meeting some great people

Here are some pics from Friday night.

I Love Rudy

Warning: Graphic quotes will be discussed. Parents- do not read this entry.

I am heading to South Bend this weekend to visit a dear friend of mine, Joy. Another dear friend of mine (RW), lives about 2 hours south of South Bend. I got the idea to kill two birds with one stone and asked RW to drive up for the weekend. Marc wanted to see RW (and of course JSF) so, he wanted to go to. What did I just do? I invited a boys to a girls weekend. OH NO.

I started feeling bad and thought I ruined everyones weekend. Until I heard an awesome quote by someone I never met before, Susanne. I have a feeling I am going to like this lady.

This is what she said in response to the guys coming this weekend.

"Dude, this isn't Lillith Fair weekend. We aren't going to sit around in a circle looking at our vagina's with hand mirrors. We're going make some new friends, drink beer, watch football and have some laughs. Good times".

A 'cleaned up' version

"This isn't a 'Vagina Monologues' weekend were we are going to sit around in a circle discussing our feelings. This weekend is about friends coming together to have a good time. The more the merrier"

I had to share those quotes with you. I think they are awesome. I will probably be posting more quotes and pictures soon (if I make it home in one piece).
