Watership Down

Part of an IM with Marc this afternoon:

Marc: I had a salad today for lunch and now I am starving.
Amy: Oh No
Marc: Salads are for rabbits.

This is now how I picture Marc at lunch.

From Beer to Champagne

Marc and I go to the bar on Sunday's to watch the Steelers games. Its probably cheaper to change our cable and get the dish, but its fun to meet everyone out on Football Sundays. Normally, after we have brunch, we have a couple beers. This past weekend had a bit of a twist. Instead of buckets-o-beers, we had buckets-o-champagne. I had two Guinness and a glass of champagne, some folks had much more. I wanted to leave after the Steelers game, but was persuaded to stay for most of the late afternoon games. It was a long football day, but we had a good time. The best part of the day, the Steelers move to 2-0.

Don't question Ed's calls

Everyone knows this guy (Ed Hochuli) from the NFL, but seriously, he has some pipes. He is almost 60 years old and can probably take most guys on the field (minus the linebackers).

Fat Marc(h) Day 2

Day 2 of Fat Marc(h) came 6 days after Day 1 of Fat Marc(h). I know...l know, but better late than never. I walked the other direction down the trail today to Goose Creek and back. The mileage was extended a little bit and so was the pace. My goal is to get in 5 miles in exactly 1 hour. Now I know that doesn't sound like much, but its actually a pretty quick walking pace. I am actually getting close to looking like one of those goofy speed walkers, minus the swinging arms. (you know who you are people).

Date
9/19/07

Mileage
4.3 miles

Time
60 min

Cumulative Mileage
7.8 miles

Observations
-2 deer
-8 cows
-1 transmission substation with 44 kv conductors
-1 rock quarry / concrete plant
-a couple wearing matching Bert and Ernie bike suits. yes, you read that correctly.

Here is my route today

Just Sing It

I wish when people/groups sing the National Anthem, that they would sing it the original way. Seriously, I don't care if its Robert Goulet, Alicia Keys, Rascal Flats, Whitney Houston, Roseanne Barr, etc. Stop 'trying' to make the song 'original' in your own draaawwwwn out way, just sing it the way its suppose to be sung. Wait, we are a free nation and can sing/say anything we want. But really, I think some things are better left untouched. Am I the only one that thinks this way?

6th Annual Tubing Trip / Party Recap:

I am hear to talk about the tubing trip, which means I survived the raging river one more year. We could not have asked for a better day. It was mid 80s, absolutely no humidity, not a cloud in the sky and the river was like bath water. We packed up our XX gatorades, sunny Ds, and juice mixtures and headed down the potomac. There were several tubing virgins joining us this year, hopefully they will all return next year. Every year, we have one person that can not stay in the tube, this year it led to a Hasselhoff moment. We only had a couple minor injuries this trip (Jenn and Iz), but nothing a beer and band-aid couldn't fix.

As usual, most people crashed after tubing (during the shower sessions). The party picked back up a couple hours later. We had quite the array of games going on: cornhole, flip cup, beer pong, pool and cards. I felt like we all regressed to college days with some of the games (come on, we had to finish the keg). I believe everyone had a good time and enjoyed themselves, I know Marc and I did.

We'll see you next summer for the 7th annual tubing trip.

Note: There are talks about having a cornhole/flip cup tourney this fall, do I hear any takers?

He's baaaacckkkkkk

The Yankee Stadium squirrel reared his/her head again last night. The squirrel sits on the right field foul post and watches the game. I have to admit, he/she has a good view. The squirrel has been named Scooter, I believe people think Phil Rizzuto has been reincarnated as a squirrel (what???). Anyway, I like the little squirrel, I hope he/she makes multiple appearances in Yankee Stadium and finds his/her way to the new stadium next year. All we need to do is get the squirrel a tiny little glove, tiny shoes, and a little batting helmet.

Let it begin

In just a few days, the season will be upon us. A handful of us will kick the season off by meeting at 'Bung-holes' for brunch, beer, and ball (football). Meet us if you want.

Go Steelers!
