It certainly has been awhile..

I have been told, from my two faithful readers, that I have been slacking on the blog. Its true. Marc and I went to San Diego from a work conference last week. The week before that, I was very busy at work. That left very little time to write about anything.

Since Marc had to work the booth and I attending sessions all day, that left us with the evenings to play. San Diego has a great variety of restaurants, which Marc and I took advantage of. There is something about being in 75 and sunny weather that makes you want to have some beers.

*Note: When I was not drinking Guinness in San Diego, my back up beer was Fat Tire (for those of you that don't think I drink anything else).

We took the red eye Friday, so we went to Sea World during the day. I am 31 years old and I have never been to Sea World until now. I was impressed not only by the animals, but with the landscaping and cleanliness of the park.

I posted some San Diego pictures on my picasa site. Here are some of my favorites:

Tony Pena

Have you been watching the Yanks play these days? Have you noticed anything weird on the field? I have--Tony Pena does NOT have a mustache any more. That is crazy! Its like shaving Scorsese's eyebrows or taking Bono's sunglasses away.

I guess Tony lost a bet:

A close shave: Yankees first base coach Tony Pena, for the first time since he was a player with the Cardinals in 1987, has no moustache.

Pena made a bet with some of the players. If the team won five straight, he'd shave.

The Yankees made it five in a row with a win over Pittsburgh on Saturday.

``They had me tied down over there,'' Pena said, smiling as he pointed to a corner of the home clubhouse.

But the coach didn't mind. When he last shaved the Cardinals played Minnesota in the World Series - and lost. (YesNetwork)

Sinead O'Connor

Sinead will be in Pittsburgh playing two shows. The first will be for a intimate crowd at the Andy Warhol Museum (being taped) and the other is a free show in the Park. This is all happening June 22-23. Marc and I get back from San Diego on the 23rd. I wonder if we have time to make it up to Pgh. I bet the show will be a delight. Maybe I love Sinead and Maybe I love Sinead.

Dinner and Drinks

Have you ever been to a restaurant where you are given little animals with your drinks? If so, have you ever done this:

Celtic Festival Weekend

We all had a great time at the Celtic Festival this weekend. I was told to expect good beer, good food and fun crafts (all were true). We could not have asked for better weather either. After several hours of drinking Guinness/Smithwicks/Cider, lounging in the shade and listening to music, we came back to our place for a cook out. Our menu included: steak/veggie kabobs, red pepper dipping sauce, crab cakes, corn on the cob, my first attempt to make potato salad (Marc's mom's recipe), and Vicki's awesome ice cream oreo cake. What a wonderful Saturday!

OK, back to the potato salad. I know that most things homemade are much better than store bought products. My first attempt to make this potato salad, was not a bad one. It could have been a lot better, maybe practice makes perfect. However, I don't think I will make it again anytime soon. In theory, its not hard to make, but it takes a long time to prepare. Do I want to invest the time to do it again? The answer is YES, only if it actually tasted like my mother-in-laws.

I am going to try this again--

For all 3 people that read this blog, I am putting something back out on the table. For the love of all that is holy, will you please watch "The Devil and Daniel Johnston". I still can't believe this guy's story. There are points in the documentary that you may want to turn it off, but DON'T. I have a feeling that you will have the same reaction to him as I do. I want to punch him in the face, then I want to give him a big hug. I am not going to lie. I have a Daniel Johnston T-shirt and I am not afraid to wear it.

Its so damn cold ....

After our softball game (we won by the way), a group of us heading to get some pizza and beer. I guess we left around 9:15PM. As we were walking toward our cars, Iz makes a statement, "Wow, it really got cold out here, my hands are cold".

It was 78 degrees out with no wind.
